Her new hadouken is now short range and she has a brand new air attack with old animation. Her EX mode character is based on her move list from STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 2. So she plays just as annoying as we all remember. Her hadouken gets bigger but loses range with each punch button pressed. Normal Mode: Hadoushou qcf+P Kououken dp+P Sakura Hana Kyaku qcb+K (in air) Shunpuuren Kyaku qcb+K (x2) Super Moves: Shinkuu Hadouken qcf, qcf+P Haru Ichiban qcb, qcb+K EX Mode: Hadouken qcf+P Shououken dp+P Shunpuu Kyaku qcb+K (air) Super Moves: Midare Zakura qcf, qcf+K Shinkuu Hadouken qcf, qcf+P Haru Ichiban qcb, qcb+K Dhalsim: Dhalsim returns pretty much as we remember him. He gains a new super but it really translates as a simple name change. His EX mode character is based on his move list from STREET FIGHTER 2. Normal Mode: Yoga Fire qcf+P Yoga Flame hcb+P Yoga Blast hcb+K Yoga Teleport dp (or bdp)+PP (or KK) Super Moves: Yoga Vulcan qcf, qcf+K Yoga Stream qcf, qcf+P EX Mode: Yoga Fire qcf+P Yoga Flame hcf+P Yoga Blast hcf+K Yoga Teleport dp (or bdp)+PP (or KK) Super Moves: Yoga Tempest hcf, hcf+P Cammy: Cammy's normal mode has her losing some of her moves since alpha 3 and only gives her one super. This is not that bad as she still plays well. Her EX mode is based on her fighting move list from SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2, a good allround character. Normal Mode: Cannon Drill qcf+K Cannon Spike dp+K Spin Knuckel hcb+P Hooligan Combination b, d, df, f, uf+P Option 1. Fatal Leg Twister P during HC Option 2. Cross Scissor Pressure P during HC near ground Option 3. Razor Edge Slice Do nothing whilst in Holligan Combination. Super Moves: Spin Drive Smasher qcf, d, df+K EX Mode: Cannon Spike dp+K Hooligan Combination db, d, df, f, uf+P Fatal Leg Twister P during HC Cross Scissor Pressure P during HC near ground Razor Edge Slicer push nothing during HC Cannon Strike qcb+K (in air) or K during HC Super Moves: Spin Drive Smasher qcf, d, df+K Reverse Shaft Breaker qcb, qcb+K Blanka: Blanka returns again as a rubbish character. All of his moves can be countered or stopped with little hassle. He has some new super moves, but that still doesn't improve his character. His EX mode is based upon his move list from STREET FIGHTER 2 So no improvement there! Normal Mode: Electric Thunder P rapidly Rolling Attack Ch.b, f+P Backstep Rolling Ch.b, f+K Vertical Rolling Ch.d, u+K Surprise Forward f+KK Surprise Back b+KK Super Moves: Direct Lightning Ch.b, f, b, f+P Shout of Earth Ch.db, df, db, uf+P (P rapidly) EX Mode: Electric Thunder P rapidly Rolling Attack Ch.b, f+P Surprise Forward f+ KK Surprise Back b+KK Super Moves: Ground Shave Rolling Ch.b, f, b, f+P (hold P to delay) CAPCOM characters Ratio 2 Ryu: Ryu returns with new sprite art. It looks like a cross between SF2 and SF3. Ryu is one of two street fighters who has all of his moves from SF1, SF2, SSF2, the other is Ken. Ryu has no EX mode because his alter evil ego appears as a Ratio 4 character. Normal Mode: Hadouken qcf+P Shakunetsu Hadouken hcf+P Shouryuuken dp+P Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku qcb+K (air) Super Moves: Shinkuu Hadouken qcf, qcf+P Shinkuu Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku qcb, qcb+K Shin Shouryuuken qcf, d, df+P (L3 or SDM only) Ken: Ken returns with new sprite art. It looks like a cross between SF2 and SF3. Like Ryu he has access to all of his moves from SF1, SF2, SSF2. His EX mode is not as good, as he is limited to his move list from SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2. Normal Mode: Hadouken qcf+P Shouryuuken dp+P Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku qcb+K (air) Zenpou Tenshin qcb+P Ryuusen Kyaku dp+K Super Moves: Shouryuureppa qcf, d, df+P Shinryuuken qcf, d, df+K (press K repeatedly) Shippuujinrai Kyaku qcb, qcb+K (level 3 only) EX Mode: Hadouken qcf+P Shouryuuken dp+P Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku qcb+K (air) Zenpou Tenshin qcb+P Sha Otoshi Shukuri f, df, d+K Kama Barai Shukuri qcf+K Oohazu Mawashi Shukuri hcf+K Shouryuureppa qcf, d, df+P Chun-li: Chun-li returns with the same old alpha artwork. I wish they had altered it as she really does not fit in well. New effects have been added to her super moves. Her EX mode sees her regaining her STREET FIGHTER 2 move list, which means altering your fighting tactics as she is very vulnerable in this mode. However you can have fun using her Spinning bird kick to cross up enemies. All you do is delay the Up and kick part of the move, if you get it right Chun-li will spin up over the opponents head in a nice ark! Normal Mode: Kikouken hcf+K Hyakuretsu Kyaku K rapidly Tenshou Kyaku Ch.d, u+K Spinning Bird Kick Ch.b, f+K Super Moves: Kikoushou qcf, qcf+P Senretsu Kyaku Ch.b, f, b, f+K Hazan Tenshou Kyaku Ch.db, df, db, uf+K EX Mode: Hyakuretsu Kyaku K rapidly Spinning Bird Kick Ch.d, u+K Super Moves: Senretsu Kyaku Ch.b, f, b, f+K Spinning Hornet Kick Ch.db, df, db, uf+K Guile: Guile is back with new voice effects! He is an excellent well rounded character. His EX mode returns him to his move list of STREET FIGHTER 2 unfortunately he doesn't regain his strength, but I think his supers do an ickle bit more damage. Normal Mode: Sonic Boom Ch.b, f+P Somersault Kick Ch.d, u+K Super Moves: Somersault Strike Ch.db, df, db, uf+K Total Wipeout Ch.b, f, b, f+P EX Mode: Sonic Boom Ch.b, f+P Somersault Kick Ch.d, u+K Super Moves: Somersault Strike Ch.db, df, db, uf+K E.Honda: A puzzling character choice as E.Honda has never been a strong character, even his background story is unexciting. He returns with little incentive to play him. His EX mode see's him returning to him to his STREET FIGHTER 2 move list. A real surprise that he is a ratio 2 character, avoid him at all costs. Normal Mode: Hyakuretsu Harite P rapidly Super Zutsuki Ch.b, f+P Super Hyakkan Otoshi Ch.b, f+K Ooichou Nage 360+P Super Moves: Oni Musou Ch.b, f, b, f+P Orochi Kudaki 360, 360+P [L3, or SNK desperation] EX Mode: Hyakuretsu Harite P rapidly Super Zutsuki Ch.b, f+P Super Hyakkan Otoshi Ch.b, f+K Super Moves: Oni Musou Ch.b, f, b, f+P M.Bison [Balrog] M.Bison returns as a sub boss before you meet Vega at the very end. He seems to have all the moves that we remember, and can be very powerful if you can prompt your opponents to make a mistake. His EX mode see's him returning to his STREET FIGHTER 2 moves list, which basically downgrades him. Normal Mode: Dash Straight Ch.b, f+P Dash Upper Ch.b, f+K Dash Ground Straight Ch.b, df+K Dash Ground Upper Ch.b, df+P Turn Punch Ch.any button, release Buffalo Headbutt Ch.d, u+P Super Moves Crazy Buffalo Ch.b, f, b, f+P (or K) Gigaton Blow Ch.b, f, b, f+K (level 3 or SDM only) EX Mode: Dash Straight Ch.b, f+P Dash Upper Ch.b, f+K Turn Punch Ch.any button, release Super Moves: Crazy Buffalo Ch.b, f, b, f+P (or K) Zangief: Zangief is in his weakest 'VS' incarnation here. His EX mode returns him to his STREET FIGHTER 2 move list, so best avoid picking him in this mode. Normal Mode: Double Lariat PP Quick Double Lariat KK Banishing Flat dp+P Screw Piledriver 360+P Atomic Suplex 360+K (close) Flying Powerbomb 360+K Super Moves: Final Atomic Buster 360, 360+P Aerial Russian Slam qcf, d, df+K EX Mode: Double Lariat PP High Speed Double Lariat KK Screw Piledriver 360+P Super Moves: Final Atomic Buster 360, 360+P CAPCOM characters Ratio 3 Sagat: One of the most under-rated characters returns and is an excellent character. However his EX mode returns him to his STREET FIGHTER 2 move list, which basically translates as rubbish. Normal Mode: Tiger Shot qcf+P Ground Tiger Shot qcf+K Tiger Crush dp+K Tiger Uppercut dp+P Super Moves: Tiger Genocide qcf, qcf+P Tiger Raid qcb, qcb+K EX Mode: Tiger Shot qcf+P Ground Tiger Shot qcf+K Tiger Crush qcf, uf+K Tiger Uppercut dp+P Super Moves: Tiger Cannon qcf, qcf+P Ground Tiger Cannon qcf, qcf+K Balrog: [Vega] Another under-rated character. Balrog is an excellent choice. His speed and jumping range can really confuse the enemy, alloying you to land cross up kicks or punches, and that means more GP points! His EX mode returns him to his STREET FIGHTER 2 move list, the difference is noticeable but it does not affect Balrog that much as he is strong in both modes, he just loses some supers. Normal Mode: Rolling Crystal Flash Ch.b, f+P Sky-high Claw Ch.d, u+P Flying Barcelona Attack Ch.d, u+K (P) Izuna Drop Ch.d, u+K (u+P) Scarlet Terror Ch.db, f+K Backslash PP Short Backslash KK Super Moves: Flying Barcelona Special Ch.db, df, db, uf+K (P) Rolling Izuna Drop Ch.db, df, db, uf+K (u+P) Scarlet Mirage Ch.b, f, b, f+K Red Impact Ch.b, f, b, f+P (level 3 only) EX Mode: Rolling Crystal Flash Ch.b, f+P Sky-high Claw Ch.d, u+P Flying Barcelona Attack Ch.d, u+K (P) Izuna Drop Ch.d, u+K (u+P) Scarlet Terror Ch.db, f+K Backslash PP Short Backslash KK Super Moves: Rolling Izuna Drop Ch.db, df, db, uf+K (u+P) Vega: [M.Bison] Vega is back with new art, well his old SF2 art redrawn in the CvsS style. He is just as powerful as he should be and slimmer than his fat alpha counterpart. His EX mode returns him to his STREET FIGHTER 2 move list, which means he gets back his Psycho Crusher attack as a normal move! Vega is very strong in both modes, so its down to personal preference! Normal Mode: Psycho Punish dp+P Psycho Impact Ch.b, f, b, f+P Double Knee Press Ch.b, f+K Head Press Ch.d, u+K Somersault Skull Diver Ch.d, u+P (P) or P after Head Press Super Moves: Knee Press Nightmare Ch.b, f, b, f+K Heartbreak Despair Ch.b, f, b, f+P EX Mode: Psycho Crusher Attack Ch.b, f+P Double Knee Press Ch.b, f+K Head Press Ch.d, u+K Somersault Skull Diver P after Head Press Devil Reverse Ch.d, u+P then P Super Moves: Knee Press Nightmare Ch.b, f, b, f+K CAPCOM characters Ratio 4 Satsui no Hadou Mezameta Ryu: [Evil Ryu] Evil Ryu looks more like Gouki every day! Even his moves resemble Gouki over Ryu. Evil Ryu is a good character if you like the Shoto's a lot. Hadouken qcf+P Shakunetsu Hadouken hcf+P Shouryuuken dp+P Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku qcb+K (air) Ashura Senkuu dp (or bdp)+PP (or KK) Super Moves: Shinkuu Hodouken hcb, hcb+P Messatsu Goushouken qcf, d, df+P Shun Goku Satsu LP, LP, f, LK, HP (level 3 or SDM only) Gouki: [Akuma] Gouki returns with new art based on his SSF2X art work. He is as powerful as we remember but unlike is SF3 counterpart he takes little damage! There is a noticeable delay before he throws his air fireball, which does annoy me. Gou Hadouken qcf+P Zankuu Hadouken qcf+P (in air) Shakunetsu Hadouken hcb+P Gou Shouryuuken dp+P Tatsumaki Zankuu Kyaku qcb+K (air) Ashura Senkuu dp (or bdp)+PP (or KK) Super Moves: Messatsu Gou Hadou hcb, hcb+P Messatsu Gou Shouryuu qcf, d, df+P Tenma Gou Zankuu qcf, qcf+P (in air) Shun Goku Satsu LP, LP, f, LK, HP (level 3 only) SNK characters Ratio 1 Vice: Vice seems incredibly powerful for a ratio 1 character. Her moves have excellent range and can really transform the match. Her EX mode is based on KING OF FIGHTERS 98. Normal Mode: Nail Bomb hcf+P Gore Fest hcb, f+P Decide hcf+K Outrage qcb+K Ravenous qcb+K (in air) Tranquility dp+K Super Moves: Negative Gain hcb, hcb+K Whithering Surface qcf, qcf+P EX Mode: Nail Bomb hcf+P Mayhem qcb+P Decide hcf+K Outrage qcb+K Ravenous qcb+K (in air) Decide·Slayer dp+K Super Moves: Negative Gain hcb, hcb+K Whithering Surface qcf, qcf+P King: Another strong ratio 1 character from SNK. Benimaru is far to powerful for ratio 1. However the lage time after the supers are painful. His EX mode retruns him to his move list in KING OF FIGHTERS 97 Normal Mode: Raijinken qcf+P Iai Geri qcf+K Shinkuu Katategoma hcb+K (PP + KK to cancel) Super Moves: Raikouken qcf, qcf+P Dennei Spark qcb, qcb+P EX Mode: Raijinken qcf+P Raijinken·Taipuu dp+P Shinkuu Katategoma hcb+K Iai Geri qcf+K Kougan Corridor hcb, f+P Super Moves: Raikouken qcf, qcf+P Raikouken·Taipuu qcf, qcf+K Electrigger hcb, hcb+P Yuri Sakazaki: Very annoying character, and voice! However those expecting something like in Street Fighter 3: third strike, then you are in for a shock. This game is very 'old school' so it follows the 2-in-1 and combo rules of SF2 mainly. Simple combos which work in alpha 3 will not earn you points it will probably lose you points! The way to get points is to play 'omnipotent' so what does that mean? Well if dhalsim misses you with his extended limb, do a jab dragon punch [ken] and you will gain around 10 groove points [gps]. Basically the gane works more on a keep-away style of combat rather than all out combos. Certain combo's still work, but as the game has merged SNK and Capcom play styles the more common ones penalise you. If you get super finishes you get lots of gps if the opponent is the same ratio or higher than you. If you managed to counter a super attack and thus finish off the opponent then you will get anything up to 30 gps. You will know when you do this, as a 3d sphere will explode behind you. Cross ups, and deep attacks also earn you points. However any rogue punches or kicks that come out not in any sequence that the game recognises, then you will lose points. When your character is beaten you will lose gps, the amount will depend upon the ratio of character who has beaten you, and who had the more active match. For a team of capcom characters play in capcom groove, and for a snk team play in snk groove. This is because the game seems to recognise you attacks better in the same character class groove. Personally I prefer the capcom 3 level meter, as it removes the opportunity to keep charging your super meter and using super moves throughout the game. Using air attacks as counters to jumping enemies [guiles flash kick, ken's hurricane kick etc.] however air throws do not earn you many [sometimes none] gps. So when playing with Cammy be aware that all those air-throws will not earn you points. In short there are many different ways that you can earn gps, and those that play SF3 will have little problem, those familar with alpha 3 will struggle as alpha 3 is very relaxed and relies more on super arts. Snk players will find getting gps fairly easy, the only problem they find is that the game plays more like Street Fighter than King Of Fighters, but hey with capcom doing it, you kind of expected that! Colour edit charts After purchasing the colour or [color to my U.S. friends] you can alter the colours of your favourite characters. Some characters are easy to edit, however others share the same colour for many parts of their body so changing one colour affects another.
